I am wondering if NC State would be good for my major and if it would allow me to get into a good graduate school
im interested in any information about NC State that would help me make my decision.

You should not have any problem getting into either UNC or NCSU, though I would take the SAT once more to try and improve your math/writing scores. Just make sure to not slack off senior year- continue with challenging (honors/AP/dual enrollment/etc) classes and keep good grades… trust me, colleges WILL look at your senior grades!!!

NC State is obviously very well known for its engineering program and agriculture/animal science schools while UNC specializes in liberal arts programs. I will be a fresman at NC State majoring in psychology through CHASS- college of humanities and social sciences so I’ll try not to be bias when giving you info about both schools :)

Both are really good schools, and you will not have any trouble getting into a good graduate school as long as you do well these next four years. Remember college is what you make of it- get involved, keep good grades, do internships and volunteer work, make connections. Who do you think would get into a better grad school: the average UNC student or the involved, passionate NCSU student with a high gpa?

Btw have you visited either school? I was accepted to UNC last year and was completely sure that’s where I wanted to go… until I visited. I did not like the feel of the campus at all. When I visited NCSU (my 3rd back up school) I fell in love with Raleigh and the overall atmosphere of the school. Visiting the schools once more before you apply will definitely help you make your decision.

If you have any other questions, let me know! Good luck!! :)

Newton, I had very similar stats to yours. I fell in love with State and never looked back. I still consider it home … and I finished grad school three years ago. :)

I come from a long line of Carolina grads and I was the first person in my family to go to State. They are very different schools in terms of culture, student body, etc. I would have been happy at either school, but I definitely don’t regret my decision to go to State! My degrees from State have served me really well.

Best of luck and don’t hesitate to ask any questions you might have!

Well I will be going to visit state sometime next week and will visit UNC sometime in August.

Thank you all for the feed back!
