Hello I am a current community college transfer, I just got accepted as a Junior in both unc chapel hill and nc state. In unc I was accepted into the exercise and sports science department, in state in the sports management major. I love sports and I wish to double major in sports management/administration and journalism or public relations. I have a really strong GPA, and I am an academically strong and ambitious student. Lastly, I am a female and minority student, hispanic who just immigrated to the US three years ago. I will like some help with my decission, I will appreciate any information on these universities and on my specific majors. I will gladly accept any help and recommendations from students, parents or anyone who wants to help. If you are a current student of any of these universities or anyone with experience with them I will be really appreciate if you can share a little of your experience with me. Any help will be really welcomed and appreciated.

As a current student at NC State, I’ll give you some ideas about life here in Raleigh and as a student. As a Hispanic, there are SO many ways to get involved. We have Mi Familia which is our umbrella organization for many Latino organizations. People can get involved in many sectors such as: multicultural student affairs and professional organizations to Greek organizations and even social media (newspaper and radio shows). There are people from all over the world which makes it really cool because I have friends from Spain and all over Latin America in general. It’s like having a home away from home. As a transfer student, there are still the same opportunities for you to get involved on campus you just have to make sure to take the initiative and not be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone to find and take these opportunities. Lastly, sports management is an amazing program here at NC State. You have SO many opportunities to find internships through Wolfpack Athletics as well as with the local sports teams. I have a friend that started out working for the football department here and then took an internship with the Panthers and then ended up working with the Colts right after graduation. She loved it! You can also get involved with being an athletics ambassador and work more closely with the people in these departments. Double majoring is also very welcome here at State. What I love the most about being here, besides the location (Raleigh ROCKS!), is that I am surrounded by people from so many backgrounds that want to succeed and put academics before anything else. Whatever your decision is, make sure to keep an open mind! Don’t be afraid of changes…embrace them and you’ll see that you will go places you probably did not even imagine. Good luck with your decision!

Hello @Wolfpacker1887 thank you very much for your response, speciallu for the comments on the sports management major, it is hard to find specific opinions on that major, many people dont seem to have much knowledge about it. I havent made my decision yet, I am still considering both state and UNC, your response helped me a lot so thank you for it.
