NC State University - Class of 2018 Acceptance

Also does anyone know why they released the decisions early? And have they let anyone know about any scholarships they received (not the Park scholarship but the ones that you were automatically considered for when you applied)?

I haven’t seen many deferred or rejected, so either they’re not posting or they’re just telling the acceptances early?

Yay for the class of 2018! Congrats to everyone else for their acceptance as well :)

My daughter learned yesterday she is not a Park semi finalist. :(

My son learned the same yesterday Heatfan. On the bright side, he received his “Big Red Envelope” yesterday and he was so excited. All my kids were passing it around on the way into school this morning (ages 17, 15, 12). They really enjoyed the acceptance letter and the brochures and the car decal. We also received a call from a junior at NCState yesterday congratulating my son and asking if he had any questions. Really great for the university to do these little things. My son was admitted to Penn State three weeks ago and it was a simple letter.

Neonpinklime: oh my gosh, us too! As soon as the envelope was opened she went on to register for housing. The call (ours was a sophomore) was very sweet and I love the personalization. They exchanged cell numbers and were texting back and forth later in the evening about housing. Auburn called too, but meh! Lol. Seeing NC State on the caller ID was exciting lol! We haven’t seen anything extra from the other schools either. Just standard letters and follow up emails. I’ve read on here where some kids have gotten gift packages or confetti in the envelope and the personal call we got. It definitely is these little things that make a difference. One child from Occidental College in California (which I’d never heard of) had his letter hand delivered by the Admissions Officer and school mascot!! That would’ve been amazing!! (School posted video in you tube but I think it was from last Fall.) I hope other scholarships come in for her from NCSU. She has a full ride at FIU and $80k from Drexel but NCSU is her dream so somehow we will make it happen. We are a very happy and proud new Pack family! Congrats to your family and all the others here who will be joining the Pack of 2018!!

My sister wanted to buy my daughter an NC State Engineering shirt for Christmas. She had a friend go to the campus to pick it up and when he delivered it he said he went by the school of engineering, told them he was picking it up for a recently admitted student and they gave him an NC State Engineering bag filled with goodies to bring for her! They sent her a compact mirror, notebook, pen, car sticker, Tervis Tumbler cup, a pin. I thought that was so nice!! My daughter was very excited about the “welcome to the Pack” gifts!!

Heatfan1009 - that has been our experience with NCSU for the past 3 years. Our D is a Junior in the College of Design, and the school has been totally inviting, receptive, and glad to see family involved in the education process. Also, Pack fans have to stick together in this state, since way too many Tarheel and Blue Devil posers fill the airwaves.

That’s so cool! I love it. Friends have given my son an NC State baseball cap and 2 tumblers. But it’s way more fun to get it from the engineering department. Totally fun.

Career goal(s): I am going to get a degree in my major, and then go on to get my masters and then hopefully Ph.D.
Any else you’d like to mention: This was my first choice and I was so happy to get in. I was told that if I thought my were low then I needed to apply early. I was also told that they accept most of their students on early admissions so I defiantly suggest applying early because it is non-binding. I wouldn’t suggest this school if you are looking for a small school setting because it does have a student body of 24,000 and you get that feeling. However, I can not suggest a better school for engineering or agriculture based majors. Good luck to all those that applied, and those that are thinking of applying!!! GO PACK!!!

Home State: North Carolina

Date Accepted: 2/25/14

ACT / SAT: I’m transferring to NC State, so it doesn’t matter because I didn’t have to submit any test scores. My previous college GPA was 4.0, though, and I had a 4.0 (unweighted) GPA in high school.

Student Gender: Female

Have you visited the campus?: Yep
Major: Design Studies (I want to transfer to Industrial Design)
Applying to the Honors College?: Nope
Career goal(s): I want to work at the frozen yogurt bar I’m employed at for the rest of my life.
Any else you’d like to mention: If you apply to any design major, chose Design Studies as your second choice! It’s not guaranteed that you’ll be able to transfer but you still get to take design classes and meet the professors in the college. Initially my second choice was FYC but after being accepted I changed my major to Design Studies. Also, always apply early, from my friends I’ve noticed those who applied early might have been deferred initially, but eventually they got in unlike those who waited to apply even though they had better stats.
