NCAA Nordic Skiing (less famous colleges)

"The powerhouses in the past for the Central Collegiate Ski Association have been Northern Michigan University, the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Michigan Tech University."

Nordic Ski Racer - Six CCSA schools head to NCAA Championships

The article mentions qualifying skiiers from St. Olaf , College of St. Scholastica, and especially Gustavus Adolphus College (qualified three women). Good job, Gusties! :-)

These are all colleges we don't hear much about on CC, although as one of the Colleges That Change Lives, St. Olaf's gets a mention now and then.

When I was in high school, I spent some time at a Women in Engineering seminar at Michigan Tech. It was beautiful up there, for those who enjoy snow.

The Gusties and Oles are very popular with students in MN. What’s not to like…beautiful campus, quaint towns, easy access to Mpls/St. Paul, good academics, personal attention from profs. Both have many similarities but different “feel”. Throw Carleton and Mac in the mix and many Minnesota students feel they don’t need to leave the state…so says my D2! ;)

Carleton’s arboretum offers about 20K of great skating and classic groomed trails drawing skiers from around the area:

What the school doesn’t offer is a varsity program - just a very active club sport program that still puts together about 10 competitions a year. The Oles cross town have a competitve team.
