ncaa process

Can anyone tell me how the ncaa clearinghouse process works? Now that my child is registered, do college coaches have to request access from her or can they log in and search for her name and the information regarding her ACT scores and transcripts will be available? Thanks for anyone's help!

Josie, it’s my understanding that the purpose of the NCAA Clearinghouse is to verify and certify that prospective college athletes have met the minimum academic standards required to compete in the NCAA. I don’t believe it functions as a searchable database for coaches to gather scores and transcripts. You will have to provide this information to coaches who are interested.

My understanding is exactly what Varska describes. In addtion, once your son or daughter is accepted/enrolled in a school the Athletic Compliance Dept goes through this stuff again to make sure of their eligibility.

Your runner needs to contact the coaches of the schools they are interested in. There is usually a web-based form on each school’s website to fill in. Have the athlete follow up with a phone call if you don’t get a response in a few weeks.

Coaches will search race results and do bulk mailings to athletes at the school’s address as well.
