NCAA Tournament Thread

I have doubts about Gonzaga... their conference was kinda weak, and I think that they're gonna choke under the pressure of playing with real teams. Plus, how can someone with a dirt-stache win the NCAA tournament? :)

Adam Morrison's 70s porn star 'stache is amazing. It's the secret to his unstoppable scoring power, just like Larry Bird.

Nova's a tough team to pick over BC because although they've survived with 4 guards all year, BC is really large. Jared Dudley is practically a big man on Nova, Craig Smith is an unguardable tank, and I don't think a guard would dream of bringing it in Sean Williams' house. Plus, Sean Williams is such a freak he'll block 3 pointers.

that gonzaga game was intense...i sit here regretting my decision to take them to the final 4...

Gonzaga will be out next round, mark my words.

Duke wins 70-54, closer than I expected. Bring on GW!!!

Did anyone see the Tenn v Winthrop game today. Dang, 61-61 till 4 sec then boom, Tenn gets 2, game over.

I see Duke v UConn, Duke reigning king.

just me tho.

i pretty sure Duke will at least become one of the top four teams (in both male and female teams) in the NCAA champion games this year

I'm doing awesome in my pool! 13-3 as of last night. But just missed Iowa and Wisconsin.

OH man when Uconn went down by 12, i was SOO happy that we might not have to deal with them. But damnit, they came back strong.

WOW that Northwestern State game was amazing. You know they're gonna go for the win, they miss, they get the rebound, kid fades away in the corner with a hand in his grill and as soon as it left his hand there was no doubt it was falling.

Duke won't be making it to next week, boys and girls. Shelden meets his match in the amazing Pops Mensah-Bonsu, leaving the load to JJ. And we all know about JJ in big tourney games (just in case you don't know what I'm talking about, he always chokes!).

In other action, Florida lets Wisconsin-Milwaukee stick around then gets it together and gets by in a battle of teams that are not very good. Motivated by a miserable performance against Winthrop, Tennessee beats Wichita State in a battle of teams that are genuinely awful. Illinois overcomes foul shooting difficulties to get by Washington. Boston College beats Montana on the back of five thunderous Sean Williams slams and probably about fifteen or so blocks. Acie Law keeps Texas A&M around for a while, but Big Baby and LSU are just too much. Alabama roughs up a weak UCLA team that had no preparation in Belmont (Belmont was easily worse than Monmouth, Albany, Oral Roberts, and Southern; what team was the committee looking at?). And in the nightcap, Killingsworth is kept somewhat in check by Batista while Morrison runs absolutely wild again. Morrison may be clinically insane, he beats the ball against his head, talks to himself at the free throw line, and punches himself in the face, but he can put the ball in the hole in more ways than just about any college ball player in recent memory.

No. Duke should have GW's number. Pops Mensah Bonsu will need a Herculean performance. UW-Mil will defeat UF. Joakim Noah will finally have a bad game. Wichita St. will beat the anemic vols in a tight match. TAMU will defeat LSU. LSU just looks anemic to me. UCLA will manhandle Bama. Indiana will ride on their wave of momentum to defeat the Zags (quite possibly the worst tourney team ever).

that Iowa upset was amazing, I was jumping up and down like it was Christmas.
UConn just showed the world how inconsistent they could be, letting a team like Albany scare them. Overall, we got to give it up for the 16seeds, they weren't afraid to play with the big boys, all of them.
GW just doesn't have the experience that Duke has in the Big Dance and that could be their downfall.
To get to the Championship, the only thing we have to fear is Duke choking like they've been known to do, but it's our year baby.

Well, I don't get American TV here, but I'm doing the whole Trax thing on FOX Sports.

Here's hoping Duke makes it! crosses fingers

Yes! Duke won! The last minute and a half (at least on screnn :p) were amazing.

i've got duke winning against BC in the finals.. in the semi finals i also have ucla and uconn

What is that?
Just in case you internationals would like to see the Duke games, just register at www.ncaasports.com/mmod. you can see all the games for free.

Sweet 16 matchup is set. We got LSU, which is defnitely not the best of news. They have a great inside game, they will do some damage.

They also almost got beat by... Texas A&M. Duke rolls until the championship game

BC's Sean Williams is the best low post help defender in America! 20 magical minutes, 0 points, 5 blocks, 7 boards! His complete lack of offensive awareness or ability is offset and then some by his amazingly tall, long, athletic presence down low. Montana was clearly intimidated every time he entered the floor.

In other news, GW set the record for most players in foul trouble as seven players had at least three fouls, and five had at least four. Just because LSU had trouble with a talented Texas A&M team doesn't mean they won't give Duke a game. Glen Davis is really fat and will be able to handle Shelden, provided that the game is fairly reffed (at one point Shelden clearly jumped into a driving GW player and the announcer commented on how Shelden was allowed to jump in his space when Shelden clearly gave a generous lean into him. I hate listening to Duke games).

Tomorrow's games: Villanova learned in the first round that it does in fact take effort to win; Arizona isn't good enough. UConn learned the same lesson and makes a statement against Kentucky. Texas also feels like putting forth effort today, which they didn't Friday. Bucknell is good but Memphis is too fast. Pittsburgh is way too manly for Bradley. Northwestern State showed a whole ton of character against Iowa (down 18-4 early, come back to tie it at 28, only to go down 54-37 then come all the way back to finally take your first lead with 0.5 seconds remaining); it won't be easy for West Virginia, but senior Kevin Pittsnogle grew up dreaming of becoming a Mountaineer and won't let the dream die here: Northwestern State gets Pittsnogled. THE UPSETS: George Mason's got a whole lot of balance, and they can handle Hansbrough; 3 of GM's top 4 scorers are seniors who don't want this to be their last game, and it isn't. If Roy Hibbert can stay out of foul trouble, Terence Dials won't get it done; the Buckeyes can shoot, but the Hoyas have got 3 big guys in Hibbert, Bowman, and Green. Georgetown leads by 4-8 the whole way and gets it done against Ohio State.

^pittsburgh too manly for bradley? i would say the opposite after this morning's game.

I can't believe Pittsburgh lost...

And maguo1, thanks for the site! I just hope my Net speed is enough! laugh
