NCAA Tournament Thread

The # of fouls were fairly even on both sides until Duke had to foul LSU towards the end of the game; more like 28% shooting and a cool 3-19 from Redick was what did them in.

JJ Redick is the premier choke artist. Jesus, another horrible game in the Sweet 16. Disgusting performance with exception of Shelden Williams today. I am so p i s s e d and sad as hell.

JJ redick played terrible. only 11 points from one of the top shooters on the team. WOW.

williams on the other hand played great with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

i was in 2nd place (1st,2nd, and 3rd make money) in my march madness pool of 30 people. pretty much everyone else put uconn, villanova, or ucla to win it all...so because of this game i am COMPLETELY done. damn u redick damn u.

:( I was depressed when I realized there was no way they were going to make a comeback. Poor JJ, he looked like he was crying at the end.

After yelling at the TV until I lost my voice, crying, binging on ice cream, and ignoring 20 IMs from people taunting me with "Ha Ha Duke Lost," I can only say one thing to all the other fans on here...

We're Duke, guys. And despite whatever happened tonight, I know I'm not alone when I say that I'm still proud.

He was visibly crying when he retired to the bench. It was SAD.

How does JP Batista hold on to that ball?!?! Get it to Raivio or Morrison. Christ. What was he thinking?

It was sad to see the phenomenal college careers of both Kevin Pittsnogle and Adam Morrison end tonight. I am particularly sad about the boy who grew up dreaming of becoming a Mountaineer, drilled a tying 3-pointer, only to see his team lose just as quick on the other end. I'll be rooting for him in the league next year.

Today was unbelieavable. Texas buzzer beater. UCLA shocker. Duke shooting 28%. March Madness has not been kind to us for 5 years now.

crushed

OhmyGod... wails

Good thing JJ won't be there next year when I am at the campus... haha just kidding. But anyway, what was going on with him? Did he look a bit sick to anyone else?

Looked to me like the LSU coach had an outstanding gameplan to stop JJ and they executed it pretty well. He never shows up when the load falls on him in big games, either.

Adam Morrison is a junior; did you mean JJ Redick?
I think that Duke was really exposed last night. They really have two threats on the entire team: JJ and Shelden. When JJ is cold, the entire game lies on Shelden. They need to have more balance in their offensive attack.
I was absolutely amazed by UCLA's performance. I picked them to go to the final four, but my heart goes out to Morrison. He played a heck of a game and had a great season.
What do you think of Duke next year? There really are no sophomores or juniors on that team. So it's going to be Paulus, McRoberts and Pocious leading the way. I personally don't think that Duke will be much good next year.

It think that McRoberts will more likely than not be gone next year, and I would be absolutely shocked if Morrison, a top 5 pick if he leaves, comes back next year.

The general consensus is that Morrison will be going to the NBA. I usually wait to see confirmation of these things, but to contend that Morrison's career ended tonight is a generally accepted opinion.

And you have to understand: not much good, by our standards, is pretty freaking stellar. I personally would pick us for a 3 or 4 seed and a second- or third-round (Sweet Sixteen) NCAA run.

I should add: if we keep McRoberts. If we lose him - as may seem likely - then I have no idea what to make of us.

Why would McRoberts leave? He must be insane! Is Tyler Hansborough leaving?

McRoberts may leave because he would be a lottery pick if he did. He considered going to the NBA last year, and a lot of experts even had him in the top 5 of the draft. He was overshadowed by JJ and Shelden, but he's a heck of an athlete.

But don't lose all hope- Duke has 3 to 5 (2 undecided) "diaper dandies" coming in next year- and several of the best high school juniors coming in in 2007-2008- sure they're freshmen but it's awesome how Duke can always reload without having to waste years rebuilding. Duke won't win a national championship next year, but Duke basketball will continue to be Duke basketball for years to come.

80% chance for mcroberts declaring for the draft

10% chance for hansbrough

just watch them play and you will see why- mcroberts is much more athletic and explosive, can handle the ball, pass, and shoot out to about 15 feet decently. hansbrough dominates people in the post, but due to his size and lack of athleticism, he has a good chance to be a four year college player

Are you kidding me? At this point, I think that Hansborough is far beyond McRoberts. Sure, McRobert's got a nasty dunk, but the numbers don't lie here. Nobody in the country could really stop Hansborough past midseason. He might be lacking in athleticism, but he's got great talent and is a natural scorer.

There is more of a chance that hansbrough leaves than mcroberts- hansbrough proved this year that he can carry a team, and play with the big boys in the paint. next season there are a bunch of top recruits like tywon lawson, brandan wright, wayne ellington and deon thompson who are coming in who not only are going to be taking minutes away from hansbrough but also statistics. he is better off leaving now and going in the first round as a potential lottery pick than staying around and not doing as well as he did this year. mcroberts on the other hand had shelden williams, the best big man in the country on the post all year, in his true position. mcroberts showed he has the skills but i still think that next year as the starting center for duke will make him a much better player, statistically, physically and mentally, and he could end up going top 10 in the following year's draft if he decides to go after winning the 2007 national championship. thank you and good night

Whether they WILL go or not, I have no idea. But I think 2010 is right, that Hansborough SHOULD go now and McRoberts SHOULD stay one more year, if they were considering their draft status.
