ncp and confirmation URGENT!

Hi my father is some what of an uncooperative ncp and he claims he has filled out the form but I want confirmation of this.. is there an email that is sent confirming the ncp have filled out the firm that he could forward to me? Also does he have to pay the 25$ for the ncp form? or will that be billed to me and my custodial parent?? please help!

Your father does not have to pay to fill out the NCP.
I would recommend contacting the financial aid office of the college in question as perhaps they can tell you if the forms have been filed. Otherwise, you will just have to take his word that he has done so. Any correspondence that he receives from the college board will go to him and not you (and he is under no obligation to share this or any other e-mail with you).

It is important that you remember that him filling out the forms does not obligate him to pay. Make sure that you have some financial safeties, where you will not have to count on him to contribute.

If your college requires the NCP Profile, your application for institutional aid will be incomplete, and not processed without it. You should call the school to find out if it has been received. Remember, it can take a couple of weeks for the school to receive and upload this information…so if your dad filed the NCP profile recently, it may not be on their records yet.

As noted…the school will compute a family contribution which will include your dad’s info. The school will not force him to pay, and he is under no obligation to do so (unless there is something in your parents’ divorce decree). But then, the school can’t REQUIRE anyone to pay for your college education. They give you the expected amount, and it has to be paid for you to attend that school.

yes I emailed collegeboard and they said he has signed in and changed the password and that the application is ‘in progress’ YET he said he finished it. From what you guys are saying it may not have been processed by collegeboard that he has finished it as yet? Either way I am grateful he doesn’t have to pay anything to fill out the form as he is unwilling to pay anything at all and that means it wouldn’t have gotten done sigh of relief I just need to know whether it has been completed or not >.<

Crusader…call the COLLEGES to find out whether they have received the NCP profile. Ask your dad when he completed AND submitted it. Then wait a week or so and call the colleges.

NCP cost $25 to submit and you father should have an email receipt from CB:

“After you submit your completed Noncustodial PROFILE Application to the College Board, you will automatically receive an online Acknowledgment and confirmation of the data you reported and a “Charge Receipt” email (if you provided us with a valid email address)”

NCP may be free for low-income parent (determined automatically by CB).

There is a terrific “frequently asked questions about the NCP Profile” on the College Board website. I would urge you to read this. It answers many questions about this form.

On that, it does state that the cost is $25. Can you babysit one night and offer to pay for your dad to file this?
