I’m really worried. Please give me the straight up bad news.
My interview (discovery day) at NCSSM is coming up. How can I give a good impression?
What are 5 good reasons to go to NCSSM?
I don’t know the order of most competitiveness but I know CD 4, CD 9, and whatever Greensboro area is, are the hardest. I don’t really think we have an interview on discovery day, I think it is just a math test and tours. Your stats look good and I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in.
Hey I’m an applicant for NCSSM this year too. I’m applying from CD 7. I saw this post and thought it would be good to compare stats and discuss the application process. Here’s my stats:
Freshman year:
Honors Earth/Environmental-98
Honors English I-97
AP World History-95
Honors Math II- 97
Semester 2:
Honors Civics & Economics-96
Health/PE-96
Honors Math III-97
Honors Biology-98
My GPA my freshman year was a 5.0.
Sophomore year:
No grades have been given since it’s finals week right now, but this is what they are now.
Latin I-99
Honors Chemistry-96
Honors Physics-97
AP European History-95
If my grades stay like they are my GPA should be a 5.
Semester 2:
Latin II
Pre-calculus (honors credit)
AP Environmental Science
AP United States History
Extra-curriculars:
Debate Club, Drama Club, Math Counts, and Latin Club
As well as things from out of school.
I was first in my class in freshman year but I have no idea what I am now.
My superscore from both SATs I took is 1870. I’ve seen score from 1600-2100 so I have no idea what they are looking for!
What I’ve heard from other forums and through the inter webs is that it’s an information session for you and your parents then after you go to take a math test. The math test (this is all from forums from people from previous years) is a 30 minute test with 25-30 free-response questions, no calculator. I think that’s all so I would be surprised to walk into anything else but who knows, right?
