By the way, I apologize for the long list of activities and such, I directly copied and pasted from the NCSSM application so you guys could get a more comprehensive view of my application. Another thing, my math teacher's recommendation won't be very good because she blatantly hates me, but my English and Science teacher recommendations will most likely be good.

Thank you!

I’m in district 9 and applying too! I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in, your dedication to music looks promising.

Thank you! Good luck to you! If you have any NCSSM friends, please show them this page. I’d love some more feedback haha

Update: I got a 2150 on my SAT.

Which high school do you attend?

I don’t want to give this information, but I go to a CMS school.

I apologize. I should have phrased it better. Because NCSSM looks at your achievements in comparison to what your school has to offer, I was wondering what type of school you attended. (ie magnet, IB)

Good job on you app, looks great! I have applied as well.

If you could tell me how I’m looking and what I could do to get better that would be lovely!

@mostlyasleep Start your own thread.

@richarddkim: I really do not think it is a good idea for you to list your county, put your real name as your username, and include everything that you put in your application for NCSSM…though it is extremely likely since it is in the heat of application season (as opposed to you posting this in say, June-August), an AO could be lurking here.

But I feel your pain about worrying if a teacher put in a bad/average recommendation for you. I thought one of my recommenders really liked me, as he was always complimenting me on how I was mature and hard-working and always giving me high-fives, so I asked that person for a rec. He told me a summary of what he wrote after he was finished, that he marked everything as “average.” :frowning: I really hope your math teacher wrote a good recommendation, even if it was decent.

What?!?!?! @thelittleswimmer

What’s the deal with people taking discrete math?

Hello @mostlyasleep‌ your schedule looks pretty good! The only thing I would recommend is to add some more AP classes if you’re allowed and maybe change discrete to something a bit more challenging or technology oriented. Otherwise don’t stop doing what you’re doing!

@thelittleswimmer‌ Ahhhhh that sucks I’m sorry hopefully your other teachers will write astounding reviews! Same for you @richarddkim‌!

@richarddkim‌ I think you’re extracurriculars are astounding (you make me embarrassed ) and you have a very good amount of hard classes in your schedule! Your district is tough but I think you’ll do really well and get in!

I’m applying from CD 7.

As well as things from out of school.

I was first in my class in freshman year but I have no idea what I am now.
Tell me what you think if you’re feeling up to it!

I am anxiously awaiting NCSSM decisions. I am in CD 9. My SAT superscore is 2220 (800 on math) which is over 700 points higher than my school average. I have a 4.0 unweighted and 4.9 weighted. I came into high school with 5 HS credits. Freshman year I took AP-US Govt, Honors Chem, ROTC, Honors English II. Sophmore year I am taking the following (thus far all As): Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Bio, Human Geo, and English III. I have decent extra-curriculars (charter member on some clubs, lots of Duke TIP stuff), not much in the way of sports. I am hoping I have a good chance.

I should clarify: the bio, calculus, English III and Human Geography are all APs. So I will have 6 APs by the end of my sophomore year.

I thought you took either AP Calculus AB or BC, not both? Is there a reason to take both?

AB and BC are each a semester at my school and are typically taken in one year.

Ditto what thatasiankid said.

ok, thanks very much
