NCSSM Class of 2015 - Future Applicants

My kid’s account says the same thing.^

Yeah, that means they changed their mind and rejected us. Happened to me, too.
I’m joking, but that wasn’t really a funny joke. I figure we just have it like that until Welcome Day or whenever we get our accounts for NCSSM’s Focus and Moodle sites.

Yeah, SeeTheDawn is right. I emailed the admissions office. Finalists who accepted the offer should receive new login credentials in the next 24 hours apparently. We had to accept before 11pm yesterday. I’m excited!

Looks like everyone got accepted except me.
sighs
This is literally all I ever wanted. It really sucks not being able to celebrate on this thread with you guys.

Please keep in your prayers - I just really want this so badly

I’m sure you’ll get in! At the last Open House one of the people had gotten in via appeals process, I’m sure you can do it!

Anyway, most people who failed to get in were probably too dejected to even post it and appeal. You are determined! That alone ought to help.

Yeah, in past years, tons of people got in off the waitlist, and plenty of people appealed onto the waitlist and got in. This year probably won’t be significantly different. Plus you’ll be in our prayers.
Best of luck!

somebody asked me if i got in.

yes.

anyone take the language placement test yet?

I have not.

Skrunch-perhaps your daughter would like to talk with me sometime when she joins. I’d be happy to chat.

@ KasumiTakeshi–Thanks for your offer. She joined the Facebook Group (NCSSM 2014-2015) today. It seems like lots of newbies are asking questions.

I took the language test! The questions were confusing. I think they mixed in all levels of Spanish questions because I didn’t understand more than half of it.

If I had Algebra II last year and took AP Stats this year so I could take Precalc. next year, do I take the precalc. placement test? Do they test you on your Algebra II knowledge on the precalc. placement test?

I read somewhere that we also have a placement test on biology and chemistry during the Welcome Day. Is that true?

@toastchan-
Yes, I believe so. There is a list of topics to study for the precalc and calc tests on your Focus account via your login. As for the other tests, as far as I can tell so far there is supposedly both.

@KasumiTakeshi-
Wait, so I have to teach myself precalc materials for the precalc placement test? I thought since I’m going into precalc, the precalc placement exam would test me on Algebra II to see if I can go ahead and take precalc?

here’s what you need to know ^ The stuff on page 2, for the precalculus placement test

Here is something that is online at http://courses.ncssm.edu/math/ProsStudents/placement.pdf

(NOTE SURE IF THIS IS CURRENT, so you should check!!! Don’t worry too much, they tend to place students where they need to be even if it is not where they want to be! And trust me, there is a place for those done with AP cal. also)

If you are currently enrolled in an Algebra I course or Geometry course and the course that
normally follows it at your high school is Geometry or Algebra II, then you will take an Algebra
II placement test.
• If you are currently enrolled in an Algebra II or Algebra III course and the course that normally
follows it at your high school is Precalculus, Advanced Math, or IB level II mathematics, then
you will take a Precalculus placement test.
• If you are currently enrolled in a Precalculus or Advanced Math course and the course that normally follows it at your high school is Calculus, then you will take a Calculus placement test.
• If you have completed AP Calculus, you will not take a placement test, but will complete forms about your math background and you will complete a diagnostic test to help us assess your math background during the placement time slot.

I guess appeals are out, although I can’t log on to the application site or the focus site. I sent an email regarding this to admissions, not sure if that was the right place. Anyone able to view their appeal status?

I saw my appeal status I literally checked mine a couple minutes after 5pm and it said I was waitlisted.
Good luck!

Where did you check it?
