maybe college just isn't right for me

I bet you are a hottie. Maybe we should go out some time.

Yeah you should just give up.

I would but I have a nasty case of VD.

That's ok I don't mind, remember I am desperate!

w....t....f?

Just let it happen! It is only gay if you make it gay!

Wolfpack12, by what I said about being a "big fish in a small pond", I did not mean that I was more smarter or more talented than other applicants at NCSU. I just meant that being part of the CHASS department is not as widely renowned as being a part of the engineering department, but that CHASS is by no means inferior to them at all.

I was never really good at aphorisms, and I apologize for any confusion. I was and am truly delighted to be accepted to State.

And if anyone really wanted to know, I got waitlisted for UNC. They asked me to submit a transcript and deposits for a second choice college.

Also, they said, "I know that you have already waited patiently for an answer from us, and I regret that we must now ask you to wait still longer", which is exactly what they said when I was deferred.

If I waited for UNC, there would be a 10-15% chance of getting in, I would waste about $1000+ on enrollment and house deposits for NCSU, and would have waited for a total of eight months for whether or not I finally get into UNC.

I'm really appalled for UNC treating me and others this way. For dangling a carrot in front of us like mules and expecting us to trudge along in our hunger. Honestly, they're not even the greatest school in the country, but they're acting like they are. Real pretentious prats, right?

Maybe I'm just resentful. There are others who were outright denied from the first letter.

In any case, I'm withdrawing out of the race. I'm going to NC State, and I'm quite satisfied. GO WOLFPACK!

Good for you Dinosaurdog. I'm betting you will be very happy at NC State.
My friend has a saying for stuff like that...just FIDO (Forget It and Drive On). Carolina is a fading picture in your rearview mirror now. Wouldn't you really rather be at a school who really WANTS you anyway? Good luck at NCSU.

Good Choice. I got into UNC already, but I'm waiting for State. I'm tired of waiting, but hopefully I get in.

Definitely! Thanks, Packmom. I wish my own mother was as supportive as you. She sounded pretty disappointed when I told her on the phone, but she did submit my deposit for State in yesterday, so I guess she approves of my choice, however reluctant she may be.

Oh, I definitely think you'll get in for sure, wolfpack! I'm sure other kids, especially that unc please!!! character, envy the position you're in right now.

wolfpack, how much longer before final decisions come out? One of my neighbors is waiting too.

ddog..you're very welcome. My S has been very happy at State and if he is happy, I am happy. That's how we Moms work, lol. I'm sure your own Mom will catch your enthusiasm soon.

March 30th. 7:00 PM

UNC released decisions about a week early, so hopefully NCSU follows suit. I really can't wait!

wolfpack12...congrats on the Carolina acceptance...just curious..assuming you are accepted to NCSU...which will you choose? State or Carolina?

I Really want to go to State! But I wouldn't complain about carolina. It's where my parents want me to go. I would choose State even though its "ranked" so much lower than unc. I believe that it important to go where you really want to go, and live in an environment more appealing to you no matter what the programs are ranked. I know tons of successful businessmen who attended NCSU, so I know that as long as I work hard I'll be fine wherever I go.

wolfpack12, You have a great attitude and outlook. I sincerely hope you get accepted to NCSU. You sound like a person who would really fit at State. My S never liked Carolina and so never even applied. I'm pretty sure he would have been accepted there but he had no interest in it. Even now when he goes to CH to visit friends, he says he can't wait to get back to Raleigh. It's not "blue heaven" to everyone! You are very smart to "go with your gut" rather than letting rankings and others opinions influence your decision. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks! and I just got invited to an event on the 29th. Hopefully that is a good sign. If I go to the event on the 29th, and then get rejected on the
30th I will probably be bitter towards state for a while lol.

"Also about my comment earlier, degrees from state other than engineering aren't the same. What I mean is that if you want to go to grad school it may hurt you. Look into that as well as the rankings of the other schools writing departments." --UNC_PLEASE

Wow, I have obviously missed A LOT. UNC_PLEASE, you have no right whatsoever to disrespect State like that. I would have to say that nearly everything you assert is invalid. I am in the biology program at State, which has a newly designed curriculum – absolutely amazing! I know plenty of Grads that are going to Medical School, Dental School, Law School, etc. from NCSU. In fact, UNC boasts that it receives most of its Medical Students, other than the ones from UNC, from State.

I am sorry that you got deferred to State. You are (were) obviously sour about it and you insulted my institution/home/life. I am currently ranked 1/4516 (along with about 150 other students) and I can assure that we all will have the same opportunities, if not better, than the top 1% from any other public university in the U.S.

You are ridiculous. I am so glad that I will NOT be seeing you next year.

I wholeheartedly agree, PrideSurfer! I think UNCplease is a tad bitter he got deferred yet again from UNC. I'm enrolling in NCSU in the fall of this year and I couldn't be more excited!

I have a question, though. About the meal plans, and such. I know freshmen are required to sign up for a meal plan, but I don't know what's right for my type of diet.

I was thinking 8 meals a week and $200 in board bucks, since I don't eat much (I'm quite slender, 5'7'' and 109 pounds), and I know that board bucks roll over from one semester to the next. Is that alright? I heard that 10-12 meals would be better, since I'm living on campus, and wouldn't have to rely on a year-supply of ramen noodles.

I just want to make sure I get enough food to eat, without shelling gobs of wasted money.

Thanks!
