My DS deferred. A little surprised. He has 4.17 W at a competitive public high school, 1460 SAT, and 33 ACT composite. Over 10 APs, all 4 and 5s on the AP exams. Applied for liberal arts and sciences. Good application. Anyone else similar?

My son was deferred last year and then accepted in March - so don’t give up hope!

Sounds very similar to the stats of my son. He was deferred. They want to see senior grades. He got straight A’s all senior year so far and an A in a community college level course, so staying hopeful.
But more waiting

Congratulations! Best wishes as part of the wolfpack!

My daughter received a deferral for the design studies major after receiving a rejection last month for COD.

OOS, test optional, 4.32 W, 10 honors classes, and 5 dual enrollment classes. No AP as her school does not offer those. Captain of a varsity sport and lots of volunteer activities.

She is planning to go elsewhere anyway as she received 3 other acceptances at schools for her top choice major.

I’m sorry! I hope your child gets in! She had 3.9 unweighted, 4.5 weighted. Test optional. 5 APs, 5 DEs, Decent ECs, long-term job, I expect that the recs. were very good.

Guys, just wanted to let you know I got deferred
I hope I get accepted in March, especially since I got all As my first semester. Anyways, thank you all so much for helping me and answering my questions! I will come back and post if I end up getting rejected or accepted. Again, thanks so much everyone!!!

A couple of thoughts for those who might be interested (I’m a university administrator, but have a ds applying to college this year). There’s a a stunning amount of randomness to the process, so if you got deferred hang in there. If you are OOS, your chances at NC State are much lower than at most other state schools (by policy). My ds got deferred at NC State (almost identical stats to rosenstockm), but got accepted to USF and offered a $40K scholarship. On paper, both schools have admissions rates of ~45% and are peer institutions. Traditionally, NC State only excepts absolute OOS rock stars (1500’ish SAT, Boys/Girls State, varsity sport team captain, yearbook editor, eagle scout, etc.) in the EA phase. If senior year grades remain good, you’ve got a really good shot in the next round. To those with NC State as your first choice who got an EA acceptance, hearty congrats!
