Hello, I’m applying to NC State for Fall of 2017 as an in-state student with 27 transferrable credit hours from the University of Alabama after this year. Applied major: Parks and Recreation Management. College GPA: 3.25 from first semester (12 hours). ACT:21. High School Weighted GPA: 3.5. Multiple legacies at NCSU. Do I have a chance of being accepted as a transfer student? Post your stats and we will see when the time comes.
I dont think you have a good chance, I have 31 credit hours after my second semester freshman year and at the meeting they require atleast 30 hours to even consider you. As far as your GPA you should have a 3.4 to 3.8 GPA and a 1230-1360 SAT which is about a 26-31 ACT
I think you might have a chance. I’m applying with a 2.67 GPA to the environmental sciences, whose GPA is 2.5
Will have 34 credits by the end of the spring semester
Math and English in progress and I am also an in state resident but applying from a school out of state
@PStransfer1842 Thanks for the reply, I think I have a decent chance. I’m nervous but I’m definitely going to attend NCSU if I get in. 11 more days and it’s killing me! I just pray they don’t pend my application for Spring grades. My major has a 3.0 GPA requirement, and I’m above that. Let me know if you get in!
I wish I had known I wanted to transfer back during first semester, I would have taken more credits and done better.
If I get into state I’m definitely going to transfer as well. I’m unsure about my chance, I think environmental science is a lesser applied to major so hopefully that helps my chances
Do you have a student ID on your wolf paw account? Also I read that the decisions usually come out a few days early
I have a student ID on mine, but I doubt it matters. My academic advisor here at UA told me to take two math classes this year that don’t transfer to State, so I’m frustrated. I would have taken 18 hours first semester if I would of thought about it. My major isn’t even in the top 10 of transfer students. I feel like I’m a tossup.
Yes! Literally my advisor really screwed me over… If you don’t get in, are you planning to stay at your current university?
No I won’t be staying. I’m still waiting to hear back on those three other colleges too. I signed my apartment lease over actually so there’s no way I would come back. UA isn’t strong enough academically to stay. What about you?
I haven’t decided yet, I could always take classes at the community college in my area and then transfer after a semester or year there. But I haven’t fully decided. I’m really unhappy here and I guess the smart decision would be to do that. But I’m not sure.
Your odds sound high! Im also hoping to transfer to NCSU or UNC, whichever decides they want me lol. I have a College Gpa: 3.7
EC: Sorority, ALD honor society, and psychology club.
but I’m extremely nervous!!
@Kennedytouncorncsu With a 3.7 college gpa you should be good, that’s about the highest range that transfered last year. It helps if you’re an in state student. No idea how much State will care about my 5 legacies. Got into App State yesterday, no surprise. NCSU is still my #1.
Have y’all heard anything about when the decision will be released? other than the 15th?
Nope, nothing yet.
My wolfpaw account doesn’t give a decision release date yet. I’m sort of surprised they haven’t come out yet. Looking at previous years, they’ve done it closer to freshman decisions.
To tack onto the original post with my personal situation, I’m currently a freshman at UNCG; last semester I received a 3.52 GPA, and have joined 3 honors societies (Phi Sigma Pi, ALD Honors Society, and NSCS). I’m also in-state. Are my chances decent?
@uncgstudent You should be fine, but it depends on what major you applied for. I would think a 3.52 would be pretty solid for State.
I’m attending UNCC and applied to transfer for Electrical engineering with a 3.62 GPA. Have a little over 30 credit hours. What do y’all think?
@uncgstudent IM A FRESHMAN AT UNCG TOO WHO IS ALSO INVOLVED WITH ALD AND NCSC. HAHAHA WHATS UP???
@transferpack97 thanks for getting back to me on that. I appreciate the reassurance My major is Communication Media, and I just looked up on their PDF on transfer students and according to that, Communications is the #4 transferring major. I guess that made me feel like less of a toss-up. @Kennedytouncorncsu lol that’s crazy! small world
