haha two 29’s on science and reading.
that was my second test, the first one was much better rounded (still a 32 composite) with math:34 english: 34 science:33 and reading:28.

hopefully they don’t see your screen name, but other than that your profile looks like it fits the mold, the only thing that i notice is that nothing really stands out - you don’t have a weak spot in your application it seems, but my advice (and maybe this isn’t true and i did not get this by reading your quick bio) would be to really make one area extra strong. really find which area or activity you like the best and transform it for the better. positions are nice but it is what you do to improve things once given those positions that can separate you. good luck

thanks again for the tips, that’s very helpful.

Statwise you’re fine. But I need some personality.

Your stats look pretty good; now, as the others said, you need to find a way to set yourself apart from the other 14,000+ applicants. Three suggestions:

Write AMAZING essays (CommonApp essay AND the Notre Dame ones). If at all possible, do these over the summer so that you have time to make them as creative and well-done as possible. In a sea of NHS members and 3.75s, a unique, thoughtful essay can really set you apart. Similarly, a cliche or last-minute essay could hurt you.

Use this summer wisely. Find a service project or internship that you care about and dedicate time to it. You don’t have a lot of community service listed under your activities, and that is something ND really looks for. But like I said…find an area that you really WANT to make a difference in and go for that. Don’t do any activity just for the sake of resume!

Keep your grades up senior year! So many people slack off/stop trying…don’t be one of those people If you apply RD, your first semester grades will be considered as part of your application. Very good grades will help you, “eh” grades will not make a huge difference most likely, and poor/downward grades will hurt you.

Best of luck :)

i will agree that with those kinda numbers, you need a strong essay. here is an idea - ask people, even ( or especially your parents ) what they see in you that makes you unique, or stand out from average. your parents likely think you are/do, so ask them why.

here is a story. kid feels he-she is nothing special, just likes school and his/her chosen sport - the sport is a fairly obscure olympic sport. as it happens, the kid does not just 'like" the sport, the kid is a former national champion in it, and has endorsement deals with international companies, and receives free equipment as prototypes to test for them before those products go to market. the kid is, in fact a bit of a rockstar in her chosen sport. he/she needed fo rthat to be pointed to him/her that this is kinda unique ( !! ).

so the essay becomes a point-counterpoint on being a scholastic nerd during the week, and a nationally known rockstar athlete on the weekends not unlike, say, a hannah montana sorta deal - with a common thread of lessons learned, work ethic, striving for excellence for excellence’s sake, etc etc. he/she is not bragging, but in fact making fun of his/her weird status as unique, and held together by those common themes.

try for something like that. what are your passions ? how have you pursued them in a way that tells the admissions people you are going to add to the richness of your class ? you may not even know what they are, just as this kid did not, since to you it is just your normal life. look outside yourself, to see what others think of you, and what they see to get a fresh and new perspective on yourself. good luck !!
