My wife and I will visit our son for JPW this February, but I’ve found very little discussion of this “major” event online. From what little I have read, it seems like some groups of students and their parents make their own schedules. I’d love to read JPW experiences from recent years, as well as suggestions to make the weekend special! Thank you in advance for any and all comments!
Hi! 2017 Grad here. You will get a schedule of events for JPW but you are by no means bound to it. My family and most of my friends’ families attended the Evening Reception on Friday, Mass and Dinner (on Saturday night I believe) and then skipped the brunch on Sunday morning. The events are very expensive so brunch is the one to skip if you’re not going to attend all of them. My dorm also hosted a reception for juniors and their parents that we enjoyed, and we attended some of the sessions in my college (Mendoza) as well. Other than that, we had free time to walk around campus and spend time together in South Bend. You can really make the weekend whatever you want it to be; none of the events are mandatory. Have fun with your son and I hope you have good weather while you’re out there! We had a surprise 60 degree weekend in February during my JPW! It was great!
