do siblings play role in admissions? I have had four older brothers graduate from ND. I applied EA.

Oh man! So pumped for next Monday!!! Thank you for posting that link!

I don’t think siblings help for your admission. My admissions counselor told me at an information session that “admissibility is admissibility and inadmissibility is inadmissibility” regardless of who you are and what family you come from. So if your scores and your application aren’t good enough, they aren’t good enough. Period, end of story. Sorry-I hope you get in by your own merit, though!

Good luck to everyone! I’m sure you’re all as excited as I am to find out!

“regardless of who you are and what family you come from”

that’s not true. not saying siblings affect it, but family status certainly does.

She told me flat out that if you don’t have the stats to get in, you won’t, no matter what. That being said, she also told me that if it’s 2 equal candidates, 1 legacy and 1 non-legacy, competing for 1 spot, the legacy will get in over the non-legacy. But in that case, both candidates are admissible. If its an inadmissible legacy against an admissible non-legacy, the non-legacy will get in because s/he is admissible and the legacy will NOT GET IN because s/he is NOT admissible.

did people say new york hears on monday or saturday?

It will depend on how ND sends the letters. You can check this website: [Postage Price Calculator](<a href=“File Not Found”>File Not Found) to find out a good estimate. Simply enter ND’s zip code (46556), your own, the date it will be mailed (I heard the 15th), and then choose the envelope you think it will come in (my sister’s acceptance to Sacred Heart came in a large priority mail flat rate envelope, so that’s what I use).

According to this website, I (on Long Island) will receive mine on Monday the 17th!
Good luck!

^^if they send them out on thursday the 13th it should come on saturday for long island, which would be even better! That is assuming that they keep with the tradition of mailing them on thursdays

Oh man, do I hope they kee with the tradition!

I know I’m already like hyperventilating. I want to go to ND so badly and what’s worse is that there are a ton of ND football fans from my school so I see the logo everywhere almost everyday. I really don’t know what I’m going to do if I get deferred though bc I can barely stand the suspense now!

Do you guys think it is likely that letters will be mailed the 15th? It seems odd because the 15th is a Saturday.

I would guess they are mailed on Thursday 13th or Friday 14th.

When my daughter applied (and subsequently enrolled!) she got her letter on a Saturday. We live in the Chicago area and that year they said the letters were mailed on the previous Thursday…so, moving forward to this year, that would make it this week, Thursday with letters arriving this Saturday, the 15th. Only if they keep to the same schedule! Good luck everyone! It is a great place! We will be waiting again this year for our son’s letter… Hoping and praying!

my son is currently a junior at ND and his letter was mailed on Thursday and received by us on Friday. We are in the Chicago suburbs. Also, an admissions counselor told us that the question regarding having a sibling at Notre Dame is just an indicator as to whether or not a prospective student will most likely accept their offer of admission…apparently it is more likely if you have had a sibling attend.

Looking at the posts from last year…

Thurs, Dec 15 - letters mailed out
Fri, Dec 16 - letters received in South Bend area
Sat, Dec 17 - letters received in IL, WI, MI, OH, IA
Mon, Dec 19 - letters received in NJ, NY, CA, TX, CT, FL

Good luck to all!

Thanks JEA828! I hope they send them on Thursday rather than sending them on the 15th. Does anyone know if in years past it’s been the Thursday or the 15th?

it’s usually thursday. the ND class of 2015 letters were sent out on a thursday and they arrived to the east coast on that monday. I think it’d be pretty safe to assume that they’ll mail the letters this Thursday.

I literally cannot contain my excitement! If they mail my letter “priority” on Thursday, I’ll probably get it Saturday!!

I know!! I just want to know whether or not I’m in!

If I get deferred, I’ll probably just… die. (It’s better than being outright rejected, I realize, but I cannot stand this waiting and ugh it would be horrible to wait this long only to find out I have to wait even longer.)

Thanks to everyone who’s trying to help us figure out when we can expect to get our letter. :)

@swinger I’m from ny too… Do you think that the calculator is accurate considering people from the northeast have gotten their letters on Monday in years past?

I’m from NJ and I’m assuming Monday, it probably takes a little longer since there are so many letters going into the post office at once and if I get it earlier it will be a nice surprise
