Received a mailing recently about an offer to purchase something called the “Freshman Register.” Basically it sounds like a yearbook type of thing, only it’s got the photos of incoming students at Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, and Holy Cross.
It’s fairly inexpensive, but for parents of recent ND freshman, did you even bother with buying this thing, or is it unnecessary given instagram usage nowadays? I’d rather just not bother if it wasn’t useful for your sons and daughters.

We found it useful to put names and faces together when talking to our daughter. We bought one for her and one for us. It was also very useful 30 years ago when you wanted to find people from your area or when you needed to set your roommate up with a date for a dance. I still have mine.

My older D did not buy one, nor did she send a photo in. I think younger D is not going to do either as well. (No idea why, just aren’t interested.)

I wish we had bought one for home for the reasons @lastone03 stated – to put a name to a face when talking to our daughter. And I agree it could be useful for finding kids that come from your area, especially for commuting back and forth for breaks. But my daughter said she looked at hers at school once when she first got it and then never looked at it again.

Why not buy it? Not expensive and a look into your student’s incoming class! Had one 30+ years ago and still have it! Kind of fun… and in the world of ND expenses, pretty cheap! Enjoy!

Huh, I have never heard of it, and bought it for neither of my kids.
