So, I've heard that at a lot of top universities there are so many pre-med kids that the grades become ridiculously hard to get and kids who would have become doctors had they gone to less prestigious schools end up being weeded out. Is this the case at ND?

well nd doesn't have pre med - pre professional is what they have - and really to go to med school you don't need to major in any of the sciences. My uncle majored in theo and english studies and is a neurosurgeon... so go figure

last year i had a friend who was a frosh (now a soph) at nd and was in the orgo class - i guess at midterms 1st semester the grades in the class were so high - like B average - C needed to pass - that the chem department chair told the profs and GSIs to make the final as hard as possible so that they could fail enough people to be within the means of previous years. So either the students were getting much smarter or the profs made the class easier. But if you go to Nd... you might as well expect it to be hard to get good grades... it is Notre Dame. can't do much better of a school them maybe Oxford.
