- Their required freshman studies program, how large are the class sizes and are they taught by TAs or professors?
- How many of the courses are taught by TAs?
- ND Culture? I hear a lot about it, but we aren't sure what this means. thank you!
I just had a early admit event with some alumni, one who graduated in 2012. He said he never had a TA teach him, only professors (he was a electrical engineer major)
My daughter is a junior at ND, and she has never had a TA teach a class. She has had some tutoring/study sessions run by TA’s, but never an actual class.
I back up what @Jea828 says. As far as culture, I’m not sure what you mean, but ND has a very great atmosphere. It truly feels like you’re part of one big family and there is just this awesome sense of community that I’ve never experienced at any school before (not even at my own college). That sense if family and community stretches beyond your peers and affects the alumni too. They’re rabid ND fans and they will go out of their way to get you a job, internship, write a glowing LOR (even though they’ve never met you). That’s what comes to mind when you say ND culture
- The class size varies a lot depending on your major. There aren't any classes taught by TAs, only professors. A University Seminar is required for freshman, which is a small 15 person discussion based class.
- Zero.
- People mean ND is a super welcoming and tight knit community. Its awesome and hard to describe unless you have experienced it. But you will love the ND culture.
ND is extremely undergraduate focused. You won’t (hopefully) get professors that shun teaching in favor of research.
