My friend received an awesome letter that says he is havin a full expense paid trip to fly out to Notre Dame i think in march. The letter they sent him basically said that he is in. Has anyone else received this letter?

Is he an athletic recruit or a minority?

I did. I'm from Los Angeles so if he's flying from the LAX tell him he has a friend.

I did, but I could not come on the weekend in March so I will be going in April instead.

Are you guys recruits? Any hook or just amazing applicants overall?

i'm going but i thought it was only EA accepted students. maybe they took the top of the RD applicants as well.

waz up guys i am at Notre Dame now on the spring visitation program. From my chats with admission officers this weekend, the invitations the school send out the kids for the march one are basically ur acceptance letters. The hint is that why would the school pay for u to come to visit the campus if they are not going to accept u. Bottom lines if u guys got the letter to come congraz u are in. There will be 200 letters going on(inside source). lol

and yes it is all expense paid, travel, food, living, and everything.

wooo hooo! thank you for finding out that info for us!

Can someone please give us an indication as to how you were accepted for this? Recruit? Minotrity? Outrageous SATs? What???

eek, does that mean rd applicants who didn't get the letter didn't get in? :(

no, if you didn't receive a letter it just means you weren't one of the top 200 applicants. since they will definitely accept more than 200 people, then lots of people will get in without getting these letters.

Congratulations to everybody that got it...but i don't understand why they would ask for a select people to visit if they haven't finished reviewing all the applications (correct me if they have, then I don't understand why they would wait until april to give us a decision??) I dont know if it made sense...

Interesting point, Lolita. Could be that in the first round of review, the admission officers for each geographic area pulled their top academic applicants. Now what they are doing is going to committee to decide the fate of all of the rest of the applicants.

Notre Dame wants to lock its top applicants this way.

Great (sarcasm!!! j/k j/k) anyways good luck to the rest of us who are still waiting!

the one i'm going to is for minorities.

looks like you've got a friend lovelyrose! I'm from orange county and I finally, finally, finallllyyyy got the letter. I'm real excited. lol.

I'm going to the one for academic merit. I'm not sure why I got the letter. My sister went to ND and got the trip for minority. I'm definitely not an athletic recruit. It might be because my sister went there.

hmm, i'm looking at the letter and it says "...we are convinced that you have much to contribute to the MULTICULTURAL atmosphere of ND's campus..." I guess that indicates it's for minorities..

The thing is not to upset u guys more, the admission officers said that the spring visitation is a selected program, all those who got invited have something special that they could offer to the university. And this could be anything from minority to watever. The Reilly Weekend kids are special because they are the top of the accepted pool.
