ND Womens Rowing...

I have a sophomore (in HS) DD who has been rowing (coxswain) year-round since Freshman year, and intends to continue thru her high school years....altho she intends at this point to attend Saint Mary's was wondering if SMC girls can row (cox) for the ND team? (I know when I went to SMC, friends of mine did, but that was a "few" years ago...) thank you for any info

I know very, very little about ND, but I do know that they actively recruit for women’s rowing under the umbrella of “Notre Dame”…

Hi. Unfortunately, I don’t believe SMC students are allowed to participate in Notre Dame Varsity Athletics. SMC girls are definitely allowed to participate in any intramurals and club sports through RecSports, but can’t crossover due to NCAA rules. Rowing became a DI sport at Notre Dame 12 years ago… before then, I’m sure many SMC girls were on the women’s club crew team.

In fact, if your daughter is looking to cox, she could join the Men’s Rowing Club. They travel to many of the same races as the Women, and in my opinion, often attend more prestigious regattas. Their website: [University of Notre Dame Mens Rowing](http://www.nd.edu/~ndcrew/new/).

Hope that helps!
