There have been discussions in the past on this but wanted to see what the current thoughts are on deciding between Brandies and NEU for premed track. Financially both are offering almost same merit so no difference there. Did not get into NEU honors program. With all that said, which would be a better school for pre-med? Any major things that would tilt the scales in favor of one over the other?
I don’t think pre-med will be the big difference here - MCAT and GPA are the most important things, and that won’t vary between the two schools. Both have good programs for the sciences. However, the environments are very different when it comes to fit. I would focus much more there.
Location(campus surrounded by city vs traditional suburban campus with access city), academic philosophy/feel (co-op and practical at Northeastern), etc. How do you feel about the fit of the two schools?
Thanks.
Just an update. We visited NE and Brandeis this weekend for the admitted students day. So have decided to go with Brandies over NE. It came down to the college vibe / fit and the ‘gut feel’. NE has excellent co-op’s but that seems to be it. They seem to over advertise co-ops which seems to lesson other factors like their academics, research, service (4 pillars). Brandeis just felt like the right fit and seems to have an excellent pre-med advising track. Just was impressed with Brandeis student engagement and the vibe it projected. In the end it was a unanimous decision with both parents and student liking Brandeis over NE for pre-med.
Congrats on the decision! Glad visiting was so unanimous, it’s nice to have the clarity
