Necessary for me to retake?

I'm not sure as to whether or not I should retake the ACT after getting a composite 30. I'm planning to possibly apply to Berkeley, UCSD, and UCLA out of state as well as USC, University of Washington, Santa Clara University and a few others.

I also have not taken SATs, but don't feel very confident with that. Is there a disadvantage to not taking the SAT at all?

I've been told the UC's prefer the SAT...and their stats show that 99% of admitted students take the SAT.

And so how much of a disadvantage would that put me at?

I would like to know that as well.

i wouldn't take the SAT if i were you...a 30 composite isn't that bad for a UC. it really depends on what your SAT score is...if it's better, then go for it. i'm also considering UC's and i'm striving for a 30 too haha.

Ah, I think I forgot to mention that I would apply out of state, so I don't know around what score I should have to be up to par. And so SAT would be unnecessary? They say it's weighed equally, but I am not sure if they really are.

Are you from an "ACT state"? I'm from the midwest, and whenever I met with college reps visiting my school they didn't even mention the SAT (I guess the thought I didn't even know about it, coming from my ACT-only school, lol). So I'm sure it's fine.

I think your good. Most colleges look at both sat or act equally, so you won't run into a problem.

The UCs do NOT prefer SAT nor ACT; they convert the ACT score into an SAT equivalent for admissions (and reporting) purposes.

A 32 (SAT equivalent of a ~2100) would be a big boost in an OOS app to Cal, UCLA & USC, so yes, consider retaking for those two campuses, particularly if you aren't feeling strong about Subject Tests. 'SC in particular favors high test scorers.

yeah, i would retake the act. chances are you'll bring it up.
