Necessary to Have a Major When Applying?

Do we must have a major when applying??? I mean, I know we must put down which college we are applying to, but how about majors? Do we must put one down too?? Thanks.

At CALS it's uber important, not sure about other colleges

thanx!!

anyone else plz??

I'm undecided within the college of Engineering. I don't know enough about all the majors to chose just one, and I can see the appeal of a lot of them.

battle i think you are another me...

For Arts and Sciences and Engineering at least, it is not necessary to specify a major when applying. In CAS, they know that you will be exposed to lots of subjects you never studied in high school and that it is very likely that even if you specify a major coming in, you'll end up with something different. In Engineering it is my understand that there is a required freshman class that exposes you to the various disciplines within engineering to help you decide a major.

thank you cornell75!
