Need 3.0 for internship, have 2.9

Hi,

I am currently a junior in at well-respected university. I am currently applying for various internships (i.e. one in the publishing industry). However, I have a small problem. A few of the companies state a qualification is having a 3.0 GPA, but my current GPA is 2.92. My GPA took a dip after a rough semester (personal issues negatively effected my academic record).

After this spring semester, my GPA should be at least a 3.0. Would it be okay to apply for these internships & note on my resume that I had one rough semester? Besides my slightly low GPA (which I admit I am unhappy with), my resume is very strong.

I'd love your input. I don't want possible employers to think I don't realize my GPA is .1 too low. I realize that, but I believe that the other parts of my resume make up for it.

Nothing is stopping you from saying your GPA is any number…

But if they ask for a transcript, which few do, you will have some explaining to do.

So if you feel you qualify, go ahead and say it is 3.0. Just realize you are lying, which will automatically disqualify you if they find out

Just put 2.9. I applied to a study abroad program that required a 3.0 GPA but I had a 2.75 GPA and I still made it. Just make sure that you are extra enthusiastic in your interview (if you have one) and your essay is top-notch.
