Need a book that will teach me how to do stuff.

I have been studying for the ACT for a while now and realized that I just dont know how to do many of the things on the math section I have the red book and PR 1290 questions. Their practice questions are good but their explanations dont make sense to me.
What do you think I should do?

Go to [Khan Academy](http://www.khanacademy.org/index.html) and watch any of the Pre-Algebra, Algebra I/II, Geometry, or Trig videos that you think you need help with.

He’s also dissected 400+ SAT problems in his other videos (see [Khan Academy](http://www.khanacademy.org/sat.jsp)). Even though it’s SAT, it will give you insight into how to go about answering questions on the ACT.

Practice, practice, practice. Sparknotes has a free ACT book posted at [SparkNotes Test Prep: ACT Information Center](<a href=“SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides”>SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides) and it includes practice tests.

When you miss questions, go back and look at them carefully. Review how and why you missed these questions. Take notes. Try not to make the same mistakes more than once.

“Spotlight on the ACT”, it’s small, paper back sized; my kid went from a 28 to a 31 by spending about 12 hours on that book (3 hours each section, approximately).
