what should I do?

There are some jobs in the tenderloin district of San Francisco after 11 PM. You just have to wait out on the street and money will come.

…Look for a job that doesn’t require work study?

Okay, sorry for being snarky, but I figured the answers were pretty obvious if you did a little bit of research. If you want a campus job, your choices are pretty limited. Definitely check with RSSP to see if they have openings for positions like Security Monitors (pay is not very good, but you essentially get paid to study), and I know the dining commons don’t require work study (and they pay 11.25/hour). Other than that, keep an eye out on CalJobs and the library occasionally has non-WS jobs, but those tend to get filled pretty fast unless they have some requirement that most students don’t possess…like the ability to understand Farsi or something. I think libraries also hire less during Spring since a lot of people stay on.

Your best bet is the dining commons or CalJobs because a lot of school departments go through that portal for hiring student staff. Be patient and send out loads of applications, and don’t be discouraged when you see ‘Work-Study Preferred’ - just apply!

Rescomp and ASA jobs (or any RSSP job) don’t require workstudy, but they only hire once a year :)

I would say CalJobs, though I hunted down jobs for a million years on there and practically got almost no responses.

I have 2 jobs now, one because I found out about it from a family friend and the other because my roommate was looking at workstudy jobs (I seriously didn’t know workstudy was so convenient at finding jobs until now). IF you don’t have workstudy, I would say best bet is to ask around friends who are working right now and see if they are hiring or know of how they found that job.
