need a mac student to answer!

so i have just been accepted by Mac, and i super duper excited right now. There are many good things about Mac that attract me, but theres one issue that has been bothering me.

WINTER

seriously, how bad is the snow??

I’m not a Mac student but I do live in the Twin Cities (full disclosure, I grew up here too so I’m used to the cold/ snow). Snow can actually be a lot of fun and not a huge nuisance except to drivers. The cold is what isn’t always so fun. Have you ever lived been to New England or other places of similar latitude during the winter? Minnesota’s not that much colder than like Boston. However, if you are miserable at any temp below 40 degree’s F Mac may not be for you, but honestly I know southerners who now love the snow.

Just don’t underestimate how dangerous the roads can be … And make sure you don’t put your life in anyone’s hands who is not 100% focused on safe driving when the roads are icy. This is my biggest fear for my daughter.

@katycollege16 @choirsandstages lol im from southern California and have never been to the east coast. My mom was concerning about given the fact that SoCal has the so-called California sunshine and warm weather, i wont be able to survive in the snow.

I am a sophomore Mac student from Miami, FL. Go to Colombia or Patagonia and buy a good jacket, don’t be afraid to splurge a little. That one jacket is probably all you need, the campus is small enough that you wont freeze walking from class to class but that doesn’t mean there won’t be days where you wish you back home

OP - Have you decided yet? Having lived in Wisconsin for several years, I will tell you that the snow isn’t bad and can, in fact, be a lot of fun. Especially when you are on a campus and don’t have to shovel or travel until roads are clear. The cold, however, is severe. And when it is coldest, it often doesn’t snow at all. Invest in warm stuff, dress in layers to add or subtract, and don’t be too vain to wear your hat!
