I want to major in computer science, maybe with a double major in modern languages. I'm from RI not wanting to go too far from home. The reaches I want to apply to are Brown University (Early Decision), CMU SCS (Early Decision II), and Cornell CAS. My matches are NYU CAS and Tufts CAS(I would like one more). The safeties I am interested in are URI, UConn, UMass-Amherst, and BU (I only want to apply to two). Advice?

Which of those safeties can you afford?

Money isn’t a problem–my grandparents are very very wealthy and are happy to pay.

If you are competitive for Brown, you are basically guaranteed admission to all three state schools listed. Pick the one you would most want to go to and scratch the other two.

Then… I think I will apply to UMass-Amherst and BU. Any suggestions for an extra match?

Based on location, and a school like Brown - then Wesleyan is the obvious choice. University of Rochester would be similar to the match schools you are listing, but its a little bit further away. Maybe Brandeis. Maybe Vassar.
Amherst is a reach, but might be worth throwing in the mix as well.

Thanks I’ll check out those schools :)
