Need A Safety School, Please Help

<p>Hi its getting kind of late in the year already, at least in terms of admissions. So I’ve definitely got my reach schools planned out, those are easy- I dream Columbia, Cornell, Stanford, Chicago. Some matches include Notre Dame, Boston College, Vanderbilt, and I have University of Florida down as well.</p>

<p>I am worried, however, of being universally rejected, as all of these schools are selective. My stats are:</p>

<p>4.0 unweighted GPA, 6 APs this year, including AP Calculus, which looks like a C, and AP Chemistry.</p>

<p>I got a 670 math/700 verbal/740 writing, but a 33 on the ACT (32 reading and English, 35 math and 33 science)</p>

<p>My SAT math 2c was unimpressive: 660, but I’m taking the lit.</p>

<p>My main EC is BSA, Eagle Scout and a couple of other leadership positions.</p>

<p>I’m also Hispanic.</p>

<p>Chances at the schools I listed above aside, what are a couple of good SAFETY schools for me. I don’t want to go to a liberal arts college, I prefer a national university in a relatively large city or urban area.</p>

<p>My interests by the way, lie in Business, Economics, although I am considering premed.</p>

<p>Any suggestions?</p>

<p>What state? You look pretty in to UF, es. for Business. Also, no one majors in premed, they major in a science.</p>

<p>well I'm a Florida resident, that would explain UF. UF i don't really want to go to, I'd really prefer to leave the state. I know of 2 other people from my school who were way less qualified than me but were Hispanic that got into Chapel Hill.</p>

<p>Preferably a school in the top 75, preferably top 50.</p>

<p>Why does ranking matter? What matters is fit, not some stupid number. I'd kill to go to a school like UF or UNC, both of which I have no chance at.</p>

<p>I'm a double legacy at UMiami, there are 5 degrees total from University of Miami in my family.</p>

<p>Thing with UMiami is, I pass it on the way to school in the morning- I can walk to it from my house- not desirable.</p>

<p>I've already considered Georgetown, decided not to apply</p>

<p>the rankings aren't that much of an issue with me, i'm a major advocate of going somewhere you'll be happy. the issue with rankings is my parents' expectations and what they'll pay for;</p>

<p>yeah and my mom pretty much said "no way" to BU, bc she doesnt like it. She did suggest Fordham though</p>

<p>yeah for a while I was seriously looking at U Colorado- Boulder, because it is so insanely beautiful there- i truly believe that some parts of Colorado are absolutely heaven on earth, but again, my parents would not approve unless it was an absolute last resort</p>

<p>you go to BU? I liked BU a little more bc the students seemed happy to be there, not like there parents forced them to go there, and it has a more urban campus</p>

<p>Somebody told me that being Hispanic is like 100 points on your SAT. Would a C, C+ in AP Calculus be ok for Columbia/Chicago/Cornell?</p>

<p>i actually have Hopkins and Rice on my list, but I think they're too competitive to be considered "safeties"</p>
