Need a summer program (where I can get college credit)

Anyone know any free or low cost summer programs out there where I can receive college credit. All the ones I found (SSP at Harvard, Cornell, John Hopkins) cost > $5000 (I cannot afford it nor am I eligible for financial aid).

In addition, on college applications, does it look better if you took college courses during the summer or did some sort of sumer program where you just do a project (such as YESS or MITES). I am interested in both and the reason that I am asking is that I cannot choose. I'm really confused about this topic. Although I think it is harder to get into something like YESS. I'm already doing research at a local university (but it isn't like great research, don't expect to win any awards but I still like it).

If you have the test scores and are in the right age group, Davidson’s THINK offers college credit (two courses in 3 weeks, so you completely bust your tail the whole time you are there). Cost is about $3,000 plus travel expenses this year.

Here is another one:

[NCSU CALS Academic Programs - Summer College in Biotechnology and Life Sciences (SCIBLS)](http://harvest.cals.ncsu.edu/academic/index.cfm?pageID=1975)

About $3,600 for out of state students (if you don’t live in North Carolina) plus your travel expenses.

Know anything cheaper (<$1,000 range). I guess I can’t have both prestige and a free summer program so I don’t mind if no ones heard of it or anything. As long as I’m able to get college credit. Also, how about my second question, which looks better college courses over the summer or project orientated courses.

Check out [High School Internships](http://people.rit.edu/~gtfsbi/Symp/highschool.htm) . Some programs are paid.

Math program in University of Utah, really nifty and convenient timing and free, [UUMath - Summer Mathematics Program for High School Students](Redirect)

I wish that started a little later. I live in NY so our final exams are up to June 24th or so. =[. but that program looked really good (the one in Utah), it was only 3 weeks long or so and gave college credit.
