"Need Additional Information: 1st Semester Transcript"

Today I received an admission decision from CU Boulder that said I will need to submit my 1st semester transcript from my senior year. I was shocked by this decision because my scores are above average for the institution and my resume and essays are above par as well.

Has anyone else received this decision before? I wanted to know a few things:

  • Does this mean my I will likely not be admitted if my senior grades are not amazing? (Mostly Bs and a C in Calculus)
  • Will they reconsider my entire application or will they only look at the new transcript when making the decision?
  • Is there some other reason that they are asking for my updated transcript rather than because I’m borderline denied?

Here are some of my credentials (applying to Engineering):

  • 30 ACT
  • 2010 SAT
  • 3.9 GPA UW
  • President of Engineering Club
  • VP of Service League organization
  • Lifeguard and Swim Instructor
  • Decent essays

I am worried because I considered Colorado to be more of a safety school and I didn’t think I would have a problem getting in. I have already been admitted by Purdue University, but I love CU and I am really considering attending. Thanks in advance for any responses!
