I will start with a little background on my current predicament. When I was younger I was stupid and dropped out of schooL eventually I realized my mistake and enrolled in a adult school in order to get my high school diploma. In order to gain the knowledge I needed to finish high school and pass the exit exam I enrolled in college and took classes to accomplish this goal. I passed and received my diploma. I continued taking classes at the college with the goal of getting an associates degree in Bio Science, than transferring to a university to get a Bachelor’s degree. With there being a 6 year limit on financial aid I decided not to get financial aid till all my credits were transferable to the university. I started to receive financial aid in fall of 2014. So fast forward to today. I have a GPA of 3.9 (All A’s and 1 B) I was recently denied on my sap appeal because they said in order to get my associated degree in Bio science I still need 60 credits which will put me over my max time frame. I currently have 68 credits. I have never took any classes that were not on my ed plan. All the classes I took were building me up to take the science classes I am currently taking. If anybody has any helpful advice about this problem it would be appreciated.
since you are no longer eligible for aid at your CC, Just transfer to a 4 year school and complete your degree
I wasn’t sure if I would be eligible for financial aid there because of my amount of credit.
If you attend a 4 year school you will no longer be over the limit because you need 128 credits for a bachelor sand you have not yet exhausted your financial aid you would be just leaving without an associates degree. You may lose a few credits in the transfer process but you can go forward
Leave the community college behind. Transfer into a 4-year college. Make a precise and careful plan with an academic advisor on how to complete your Bachelor’s and consult the college’s financial aid advisor on how to pay. You don’t need an AA to move forward.
