Need advice -- CAP or transfer?

Hello everyone! I just signed up for this website to ask a few questions.

Back story: I'm going into my senior year of high school. I am graduating early (December of 2014). This means I have an option to apply for the spring semester at UT Austin or I can wait until fall.

I'm already planning to apply for the spring semester, and if I don't get in, I have two options.
1) Go to UNT for a semester and then apply to UT as a transfer for the fall.
2) Get a job and save up money, then apply for UT as a freshman.

I'm not sure which one would be the best option. I feel like applying as a freshman might be a safer bet because then I will possibly get put in CAP if I don't get accepted. Is it difficult getting into UT as a transfer?

I heard UT is really hard to get into and my grades/test scores aren't really high. 3.8 GPA, 1710 on SAT (600 math, 570 reading, 500 writing). I'm planning to take the ACT in September. I don't know what my class rank is yet because I haven't seen my transcript.

Can anyone please advise me on which route I should take to have the greatest chance of getting into UT?

Thank you so much.

What are you planning on studying? CAP would be easier in terms of transferring to UT in general because all you need is a 3.2 gpa and 30 transferable credit hours. However, if you’re trying to get into any school besides UGS or COLA, you’ll have to apply as a transfer student to the school which is very possible to do, just more difficult. I think it might be easier to transfer from a CAP school like UTSA because the classes aren’t too hard but if you end up not getting into the school you want, staying at a school like UNT would be a better option than a cap school, in my opinion. Really, if your ultimate goal is going to UT, I’d go with CAP
