NEED ADVICE. Chance me and i will bow down to u

Georgia Tech is where I have always thought of going. You think I can get in? I am a senior with college constantly on my mind. I live in Georgia, and I am a white dude (not helping). Want to be computer science major

Math - 740 (missed 2)
Reading - 600
Writing - 480

APs:
Junior-
AP Chemistry (99)
AP Chemistry, lab (96)
AP Computer Science A (97, 96)
Senoir-

What is your GPA?

I will say that your reading SAT looks a little low, and your writing score is extremely low (luckily it’s just writing). Your ECs are pretty weak, as well.

tech’s where i wanna go too : )
i really dont see why you wouldnt get in! you have a nice math score,a whole bunch of ap courses, legacy, internship, and a solid GPA. what did you make on the AP tests? also, do you have any leadership positions? annnnnd are you trying to get into the Honors/presidential scholars programs?
i would say your only weakness was your writing score other than that…hello yellow jackets

tech’s acceptance rate is like 50% so you could get in
but then again look at the type of people who are applying there : /

If you can get your writing score into the 500s you should be fine.

I think you have a really good shot. If you are telling the truth of all high A’s except 1 B, and with all those AP classes under your belt, it sounds like your Tech weighted is around a 4.1ish. A 4.1 + 1820 is likely acceptance although you should bring up that writing a little bit if you want essentially guaranteed acceptance.

GPA is like a 97.8. I haven’t looked at it since applying at early action.

thanks for all the quick replies. I thought i had no chance with my SAT writing. Now it seems there will be an EPIC showdown between my poopy writing SAT and my bamf application.

I bow down to SLightManifesto, ilyssa1257, ambaturkey11, BanjoHitter

The advantage when applying to an engineering school is that writing doesn’t matter as much. Up until last year, they didn’t even consider it.

You’ll want to post your GT WGPA, though, to get a realistic idea of your chances. If you don’t know how to calculate it, just post your transcript.

your writing is too low.

I don’t think EA looks likely but RD is definitely possible. You should study SAT Writing and take it once more…it’s an easy score to get up (much easier than something like reading anyway)…just takes a little bit of practice.

And also I agree w/ Banjo - writing doesn’t matter too much - 2 adcoms (1 from GT) told me that they’ve found the higher the writing score, the better first couple semester GPAs people have (so you will have to break that trend w/ that writing score).

I would like to wait for EA decision before taking another one. Is it possible for me to take it in december and use those scores for normal admissions.

^yes, I got my writing score up in December for regular decison.
