Hey guys--

I had thought that I was done with my final-final college list last week (when it was due in my school's guidance office) but now I'm having serious doubts about a certain school and I was wondering if you guys can help me out!

My current list (sitting in my counselor office right now) is as follows:

Harvard (reach)
Yale (r)
Columbia (r)
Cornell (m)
Tufts (m)
NYU (s)
The College of NJ (s)

The school I'm having a problem with is Cornell, which I consider to be a match (yes, I know you're not supposed to call any Ivy a match, but my school's very friendly with them). I'd like to replace it with U Penn which I would call a reach. I like Penn better -- no question. The reason it's not on my list already, however, is because our school advocates the 2-3 reaches/3-4 matches/1-2 safeties policy.

I'm already pushing my "reaches" limit, and my counselor isn't too happy about that. However, I feel that if I don't apply to Penn, I may wonder for a long time whether I would've gotten in if I had applied.

I guess what I'm asking is, how hard is it really to get into Penn? What would you do? (Applying to both is not an option here cuz my counselor really wnats to limit the number of Ivies ppl apply to).

Briefly, my stats are 1530, SAT II's: 800, 770, 760, hardest courseload; leadership roles in school activities; no major awards, nothing spectacular, no sport/instrument/talent. I'm also asian, which may hurt. Do I stand a good enough chance in Penn to apply there instead of Cornell?

Thanks a lot.

P.S. I think that if I get deferred/rejected from Princeton, one of the hardest parts for me will be to move off this board and into another (though if I'm deferred, I may stick around a little more). I'm probably more of a lurker than poster, but I've really grown fond of this board. Good luck everybody.
