<p>Thanks for the update, Intlparent. I am glad that she found a fit somewhere. As most of the posters here have been saying, it is the financial aid that is an issue for international students, and even if she should clear a waitlist, the situation even for American students, is that financial aid is usually limited for those coming off a waitlist. Her chances are very, very small that she will come off a waitlist AND get the money she needs to go to any of those expensive private colleges.</p>
<p>For international students, it is even more imperative to have financial safeties if at all possible. Those would be schools with low prices where the family could pay and therefore the student could get the visa without any aid so the colleges will not reject because of need. You are not permitted to come here unless you can show means to pay, so for most schools the acceptances are very much need aware.</p>
