I just got accepted into Miss Porter's and they said they can't give my family any money. We have none for me to go there, so it looks like I can't go. I have until wed. to make my decision, but does anyone have any suggestions to get money?

Sorry I can't help but hope you do find the money or do great in your local HS. Maybe think of applying to a need-blind BS next year if thats possible?

I tried calling a sponsor but he hasnt called back yet. He has a scholarship program set up at another school i applied to, but i didnt get into that school

well keep trying good luck :)
you are in my prayers

Congratulations on your acceptance!

Unfortunately, financial aid seems to be very limited for late applicants at many schools. I hope that something will work out for you for this fall.

If not, you should definitely apply again for next year on the regular application time frame.

Good luck!

Can't you negotiate with the school's Financial Aid Office? Even if they can't give you any money, ask where you can find outside help.

its funny that you would say that becuase the lady that acccepted and interview me is also the director of FA

You should have your parents look at a home equity loan. The rates are great and they can deduct them from their taxes.

But then they would need to get 180K plus (for all four years of school). Not many people have that kind of equity in their home. Many people have homes that aren't even worth that much.

Hopefully you only need $40,000 for the first year- AND - work on getting FA for second year on.

My son was accepted at Culver and got waitlisted for FA. The FA office clearly said not to send him for the year if we couldn't afford all 4 years. They said that Sophomores looking for FA are at the bottom of the list unless something major has changed in the families financial picture. I have since read this same thing in a few different schools FA information sections online. My advice would be to wait and reapply as a sophomore, that is what we are doing. Good luck.
