I only have like five schools that I am considering applying to and I'm thinking that's not "enough" (BU, UMD Collie Park, UIL Urbana, U Wisc Madison, I also applied to NYU Stern ED which I doubt will make). I've toured and haven't shown much interest in the colleges I've been recommended or are a "fit" according to a college counseling computer program my school uses

Here's my stats:

Asian male, MA
GPA - 3.48 weighted (***? I take the most rigorous coarse load possible, with honors and AP classes, but simply have a poor work ethics/study plan)
SAT - 1920, 710 Math, 590 CR, 620 Writing
SAT 2 - Chemistry 740, MATH 2 750
AP - Chemistry 4

Activities: Science Olympiad, Junior State of America, Business Club, I have a radio show at my school
Sports: Varsity football, ultimate frisbee

I have a few departmental and athletic awards and I'm a NHS member. My essays and recommendations are solid and I have had and currently have a part time job (20+ hours/week)

I am hoping to major in finance so I prefer a college with a good undergraduate business program, I'd also prefer a college that's close/in the city and not the size of a town

Thanks for your help, really appreciate the advice

Northeastern in Boston, SMU in Dallas, and Fordham Univ. in New York City. Also might want to consider Lehigh Univ., although not in a major city.

Northeastern sounds like a good option – it has a coop program and is very well regarded in terms of business programs. Lehigh is right in your range as well.

I think you might be too late for Lehigh - unless you really hurry - because their deadline is January 1st. I wanted to apply, but my school's already out on break and I won't be able to meet the deadline.

If NYU is your favorite, definitely aim to find similar schools. The Big 10 schools couldn't be more different.

BU is a good option though, as is GWU. I second recommendations for Fordham and Northeastern, and also recommend DePaul. Chapman and LMU could be feasible options on the West Coast.
