NEED ADVICE: Internship program???

I found an internship program from my community college. I am planning to transfer to a 4 year college. I heard that some high-ranked business schools want SAT/ACT score or many internship experiences as well as high GPA. My GPA is 3.9 out of 4.0 and I don't have SAT or ACT score. If I get some good internship experiences, would I get more chances to go to competitive business schools? I am afraid that I will lose against the students who have high SAT scores and high GPAs. Can internship experience reduce the gap between me and those who have high SAT scores?

Sounds like you go to de anza. Too early to chance someone who has a 3.9 out of 4.0 after only one quarter.

I don’t understand what you are talking about. What is de anza? Are you saying I only have a few credits? I am earning total 54 credits now.

De Anza is a CC in Cali

-> [Welcome to De Anza College](http://www.deanza.edu/)

From my understanding, it really depends on the business school.
A public University might not need your SAT scores, an Ivy might.

Do the internship that your CC offers, if you’re interested in it, keep getting good grades and try to get into Phi Theta Kappa - if you’re not already a member.
It’s a honor society for CC people and it’s awesome. It’ll def help you with transferring to a 4-year university.

Ok my bad. so many people from this site who attend de anza participate in their internship program so I assumed you went there. anyway, didnt know you had 54 units. keep it up. you need to retake the sat if you want to go to those schools that require it. ecs wont substitute for test scores.

I had three internships at major financial corporations and a hedge fund and I got into Cornell. While I would not say it is necessary for a transfer application, I’d say they definetly help your application because they give you the opportunity to write about something in your essays and add practical experience which is very helpful in business to your app.

And thanks to all of you for advice

Kk23 do you go to AEM? Do you recommend going into ILR and switching to AEM?

I was accepted into AEM. I’m not sure if you can get into ILR and the switch into AEM for transfers.
