Bonjour, mes amis. I was recently told that we are selecting classes for next year in about 2 weeks. I begun doing research and have some very important questions. My goal in my education is to become a doctor or engineer. I currently have a 3.7 ish GPA, but im quickly raising it and hope to finish high school with a 3.8-3.9 UW. Im currently a Freshie and i have the option to do the traditional 8 course block schedule (4 classes per semester), or i can go to my school's technical school. They have engineering/architectural classes, but they also have a Dental Occupations program. The hing is you do the program for half the day and then you take 2 reg classes per semester. So i would have 2 periods(90 mins each) of the dental program and then (2 of:english, math, science, socialstudies) per semester. The thing is i dont know what is more valuable taking a ton of honors/ap classes, or working with dentist on a daily basis. The program i have lets you work with professionals in your field of study so a (dental student might work at a dentists office, 4 days a week and then the 5th day he goes to class, while getting paid) what i dont know is what colleges value more grades or experience, cause no matter how smart you are a dentist with no hand dexterity will never be a good dentist. Another issue is that on the technical schools presentation they said that only 10% of students go on to a regular college to further their edu. I aspire to attend a prestigious college like Carnegie Mellon, Haverford or Swarthmore, but will they even accept a kid that took 12 normal classes in 3 year of highschool. I just started studying for the SAT, as i want to crush it to bits with a 2200+ score, but will colleges even look at a kid with a 3.9 who only took the required clases, i would be taking honors/ap classes, but i dont want to go to the program just to end up becoming a hygienist, i want to be the dentist that owns the office and has a 75k car. Im capable of achieving it, but im afraid that taking this path will end me up in community college instead of Harvard, you get what i mean. Any input would be great, if you wish to check out the programs website, the school is called Middle Bucks Institute of Technology. A quick search on google (mbit) will find it, THANKS!! sorry for the grammar, english isnt my jam xD Gracias
