ok..so i'm deciding between University of Toledo, or University of Akron. I live in Canton, Ohio....which is about 45 min from Akron, and 3 hours away from Toledo. I cant decide where to go! I love both campuses, and im comfortable with the city atmosphere. I'm asking for pros and cons about living 3 hours away, and 45 min away. I'm not sure if I'd come home alot if I went to akron, but itd be tempting. My brother goes to a college which is about 30 min. away, and he brings his laundry home every weekend almost and does it here. I think my problem is I cant decide if I'd feel comfortable about doing everything on my own, is this common to think? If anyone has a say on pros and cons, or how they decided how far to go to helkp me out on makining my decision, id appreciate it.Thankyou

3 hours away might be just far enough to push you to explore a bit rather than come home for whatever...isn't that part of the collegiate experience?

I echo this advice from oldman.

Out here in CA there's a similar situation; Davis and Berkeley are closer for N. Cal folks, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD for SoCal. At at each school you'll see a mix of hometowns so people decide it both ways.

But it sounds like your bro hasn't made all the steps to independence; if the safety valve is too nearby it can stop you from feeling like you're really away at college, it might just feel like a summer-camp in a sense that you leave every week. If you have no other preference between the two, go to the one that's farther away.

What do youn plan to major in? If it's engineering espically electrical or computer then definatlly go with utoledo. Over I think utoledo is a much better school although I've never been to akron just heard about it.
