Need advice on TRANSFERING!!

I currently go to a large state school (i wont say because its a ttt-LOL) and I feel SO lost! omgomg I always wanted to go to a huge school, but now I hate it :( Anyway, I have a 3.3 GPA and I am looking for smaller schools with a nurturing environment, milk and cookies with the dean, the whole works. I'd like to stay east of the Mississippi River if possible. Any idears?

Kenyon, Lake Forest, Lawrence, Beloit, Kalamazoo. Pick one where the Dean's wife is a fox. You never know...

Is your state school a top school like Michigan or UCLA, or is it average? How were you in high school? Its hard to recommend without knowing where you can get in.

I'll second Kalamazoo...an excellent LAC with awesome study abroad and internship programs.

What state (or region such as Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, or South) so we can zero in on other college recommendations for "east of the Mississippi"? For instance, College of Wooster in Ohio is a great choice for a nurturing, yet challenging environment. Lynchburg College in Virginia; Centre College in Kentucky; Knox College in Illinois; Milsaps College in Mississippi; Ursinus College in Pennsylvania; Washington College in Maryland are some others.

I second Kalamazoo College as another superb choice. A number of these schools are also featured on the CTCL.com (Colleges That Change Lives) website which gives you current information on the 40 colleges featured in Loren Pope's excellent (but a bit outdated) book, Colleges That Change Lives. The great majority of the CTCL colleges offer the kind of nurturing environment you are seeking.
