Hey guys! Alright so I'm a junior and I was just wondering what's a good time to take the SAT's and SAT II's for math, bio, and chem. I would take the SAT II's next year because that's when I'm taking the AP's for those classes but wouldn't that be too much too handle? I didn't do so well on my PSAT's so I really need a good score on my SAT's. Also, do any of you know any good SAT prep places in northern va/dc/md? Thanks a bunch guys! Happy Holidays!

best time to take SAT II's is around May, pretty much around AP time, when you know the information best.

But I don't take the AP test for them this year....

Reaaalllly desperate guys, PLEASE HELP!

i like to take them in june, after i've completed the respective courses...

yea.....May/June is the best time.....or October..when you can study during Summer.

Thanks guys. What about the SAT II's?

Take them around the same time as the AP exams. May/June. I'm taking them May

But I'm not taking those exams, I'm not even taking the subjects right now. I take the AP's for chem, bio, math next year so should i still bother to try it?

You can't take it next May because that's senior year and you would have applied to colleges in November or January NOT MAY! It would be too late!!! Since you're a junior I suggest taking the SAT II's of the subjects you're already taking. And don't do two sciences - either one or the other...

Heck, you can't even apply to some colleges without completeing the SAT II's!

I know that. Wait so it's a bad idea to take two sciences? I want to go into pre-med so shouldnt i take both?

If Pre-Med..then probably yeah.

You should probably want to get over the SAT before you take the SAT IIs. Imagine studying for SAT AND SAT IIs at the same time...one word: HELL.

So get the SAT done before May.

No you shouldn't take two sciences. Even though you are going to pre-med, you should still take them in two different 'subject' areas (if you know what I mean.) 2 sciences: shows that you only have strengths in science. 1 science + a different subject area= strengths in two areas.

It also depends where you apply. Some require two sciences for the special programs.

Study A Lot! Heed My Words Younging!

soakupthesun: I live in the same area as you. I'd recommend Capital Educators.

I've heard that place is really good, do you know if they have private tutoring? I've tried calling them but no one answers the phone!
