Need Advice on When to Transfer

Hello,

I am currently working towards my prerequisites for an engineering major at UW (EE or CmpE, probably). It will probably take me another year to get them out of the way, and then I would like to apply to transfer. Right now I am attending Spokane Community College.

Here is my dilemma: SCC does not offer the Physics I need for the engineering department (and the teacher at SFCC, the closest CC, is beyond terrible). So should I focus on taking other classes that would either fulfill some of the prerequisites, or count towards graduation requirements, and leave the Physics until I get to UW? Or should I try to move West sooner, and attend somewhere like Bellevue College to get everything out of the way? I realize that there is no guarantee that I can get in to UW, so this seems a little risky. Also, I suppose if I take that route, there is no guarantee that I will even get into the classes I need...

I don't know how bad/risky it is to transfer to a school before finishing the prerequisites. Any advice on this would be really appreciated.

Thank You!

Ryno is a famous baseball player from Spokane. You related to him?

From my personal experience, not from this specific program, I’d rather be at UW sooner than later. A lot of the things in my program have been taught ad-limine with the prerequisites. So by taking CC prereqs I’ve been at a disadvantage with my peers and several of us have worked much harder to get comparable marks.

Xavi,

Thank you for the reply! No, no relation to Ryne Sandberg, but it was a baseball nickname…

Anyone else with advice?
