Okay guys, I feel like I might have made a mistake. I chose a nearby public school because I thought I had a full ride, but then had difficulties because they would not stack my scholarships. As such, I had to commute.
I’m not very happy at the university I’m at, for a variety of reasons. Academically, something just isn’t right. It feels like a continuation of high school and I’m already out of core requirements. I don’t feel very challenged and I have met few people who share my interests. Most everyone is nice, but I don’t think I fit into the culture very well. I don’t know if this is a problem with my major or my school. I don’t like dismissing this school, as it is one of the best in my state, but I’m not sure what to do.
I didn’t apply very many places in high school, but I had pretty good scores. I had a 4.0 unweighted GPA and a 2210 SAT, took the hardest classes available and got several 5’s on my AP tests. As for college, I expect to get a 3.8-4.0 this semester.
Obviously, by posting here, I’m considering transferring. My major is Political Science. Does anyone have any suggestions where I could apply? It would have to be someplace that would offer decent aid for transfers. I feel like I’m looking for the holy grail of transferring, but I just want to know some options. I’ve looked at liberal arts colleges, but frankly, I know those will be expensive with limited aid and scholarships if I could even be accepted. But I’m open to suggestions.
In addition, I’ve considered just rushing through if staying is my best option. I could theoretically finish in 3 or less years. I hope to go to law or graduate school, so it’s not like my academic career would be over.
If you’ve read this wall of text, thank you and if you have any advice, bless you!
