Need advice, please help

Hi, well my top choice school has been Michigan for a long time because I was planning to major in Japanese and try to transfer into Ross (didn’t apply the first round). I selected the schools I was applying to strictly on the basis of their language and business programs.

However, now I am becoming more interested in International Relations/Studies (and a double minor in Chinese and Japanese), and I am horrified to find out that Michigan does not have an International Relations major.

I have considered attacking this problem in a few different ways:

Transfer after a year or so. I was researching the top IR schools and the two that fit me the best are probably George Washington and UCLA (and maybe Tufts).

Ride it out. I might start undecided at Michigan and then see if any other major catches my attention.

Pick something different. I want to see similar options to an International Relations major. (Maybe anthropology? Any other suggestions?)

Major in one of my languages, then do a double minor in the other language and International Relations (I see Michigan has an international relations minor).

Which course of action should I pursue? Are there any programs that I might want to consider (my dream job would be a foreign service officer (diplomat), working for an international organization or an NGO, or something along those lines)?

THANK YOU!

Contact LSA directly, but I heard international relations was going to be offered as a major starting next year.

There is World Politics major in Political Science department.

and you can also choose International Studies as minor.
