Will 1 AP course hurt my chances at a top tier UC. English is just too hard for me... I think i'll have a hard time getting a solid B. Should I drop out of this class for english 11 CP? I think I would have a very good chance to get an A in CP. I'm not sure, I need to make this decision by the end of the week. I think I should concentrate more on APUSH and Stats AP, and my other various honor classes.

Need your opinion quick, on what I should do. I want to go to a top tier UC, LA or SD. Will one AP be a big difference? Saying I get a B in AP english. If I take english AP i fear that I might spend too much time worrying about getting an A or B in english and doing worse on my other honor classes. I currently have 3 AP including english, and 3 honor classes.
HELP!

I wouldn't, just because I always feel weird not taking an honors/AP English class. The CP classes (at my school at least) are ridiculously easy. I think you shouldn't drop and just stay, and don't brainwash yourself into thinking that you won't do as well in your other classes because of AP English. You can always ask your teacher for extra help. I really want to get into UCLA or UCSD also, and I think AP classes (even with a B) give you a competitive edge. But if you end up thinking that you're really having too much trouble, then drop, but only if you're absolutely sure.

Our school has 3 levels: English 11, English 11CP, and English 11AP. The problem I think is, I might end up spending too much time on English, which could lead to a worse grade in my other AP/Honor classes. I don't know :(... So screwed..

Also UC have their own GPA system. UC GPA of 8 semester Capped GPA. If I get a B in AP it would lower my UC GPA. Because I had 4 honor classes in sophmore, and 2 AP, 3 Honor classes in Junior.

I definately wouldn't take it. Why put yourself through hell just for one AP? I'm not taking AP English this year. I signed up for it, but I got the teacher I hate so much. Plus, there is a ton of summer HMWK at my school. I just decided to take the weighted honors class.

drop back. seriously. one AP class doesn't count so much as unweighted overall, if you've taken an overall demanding course load. Spend your time making sure you get A's in all your tougher classes. It'll boost your GPA! BEST ADVICE EVAR.

Our school doesn't have honor's english, CP is college prep and doesn't add any points. I think I'll take CP and work hard on other tough classse.

I've never, ever dropped out of a class after I've started it. If it's a challenge, prove to yourself you can do it. But whatever, it's your choice.

it's only been 3 days :/ english AP is so not for me. I don't plan on majoring in english for sure, i'm more of a math/science guy. I think I'm dropping it.

Well if you're not an English person then I guess I'd drop. I'm like Ray192 and I just feel weird dropping classes, but since you really feel badly about it and English is not your main focus, then just drop.

Dude, if you are not an English person you SHOULD take this class. I mean, we all communicate in English so you need it even if you're not majoring in English.
Good English makes a lot of opportunities open to you in all areas.

In two professional areas I've known (programming and prof.research) writing constitutes a major part of work. Not being able to write effeciently is like not being able to walk or drive car. I mean, alright, none of us are professional racers but it doesn't mean we can allow ourselves not to drive with highest level of professionalism ;-)

Easiest way ever to get an A. Stay ahead of the game. I'm already in the material we learn in December for my classes now. I spent all my free time to staying ahead.

If your main concern about dropping is the grade I would just take the AP. However, if it could significantly hurt your other classes that you rather focus in then I might consider dropping. It never hurts to push yourself slightly and colleges perfer that over taking the easy cp A

Take the regular English class. 10 years from now, NOBODY will care whether you took regular or AP English or whether you went to the #1 college, the #2 college, the #10 college, or even the #100 college. So if AP English takes up far more time than all of your other classes and your resources are stretched thin, then it's OK to take regular English instead.
