Hey guys, please help me out here.

I got 800 on both my Bio and Chem SAT II's. I'm planning to take Math Level II in October and I'm pretty sure I can get a 750-800. Now, I'm not sure if I should take another SAT II in the humanities, as all my scores are in the math/ science area, though they are great scores. Should I do it?

Some other info: I'm a Canadian student, rising senior. SAT Reasoning 2390. GPA is great and EC's are pretty good. Aiming for Ivies, MIT, Stanford, etc.

P.S.: Also, I hear people raving about the TI-89 for Math... I'm not sure if I should get one. How much more help would it be? I have a TI-83 plus.

Thanks in advance :]

with your scores, i don't think you shouldn't even care about your calculator. you'll smash right through that test

I wish I were smart

Haha... Math isn't my strongest though...

Anyone else?? Please?

Come on... just give an opinion! I have nobody else to ask here in Canada!

No, TI-83+ is fine. I got an 800 with the 83 and I'm not amazing mathematically (barely qualified for the AIME), so it's much less about calculator than it is about how well you know the material.

Also, I say take a humanities test because it's only $12 more and it's cool to be well-rounded =) Take whatever you think you can do well in...with the 2390, I'd suggest literature because it seems fairly similar to the CR so you probably wouldn't have to study (that's what I'm doing in October btw so I may be biased =P).

I live in Canada, and I've talked to some admission officers from HYPS about SAT IIs and the fact that high school courses in BC are divided by semesters (and therefore one might not learn enough for the tests in school). They simply indicated that one should take the SAT IIs for which one wants to show his abilities. I think 2 sciences + 1 math should be fine.

Also, I used a TI-84 for Math II... Got a 800 and I don't think I even used any of the graphing and rootfinders... The TI-89 is more useful for calculus. As a side note, since you live in BC, keep in mind they are not permitted for provincial exams (the invigilators at my school were especially picky...)

:] Thanks a lot.

But ahhh conflicting advice!! :/

well, being that you have a username that expresses your love for a mathematical term, i am sure that you will do fine on the Math Level 2. I don't think it is necessary to take another one unless you are going into a field in the humanities or something or the college requires some in particular subject areas, but most don't.

Hmm so only take Math?
I'm still undecided... any other opinions?
